Help! Since I got mirena in 5 weeks ago, I have not stopped bleeding. I'm always tired, can barely get out of bed and to school. I had arm and leg pain, trouble breathing, chest pain, dizziness, fainting,nausea,and probably more I can't remember right now. I have fainted and been short of breath before, but not like this! The OBGYN told me it's unrelated, but he never seems very concerned about his patients. Another doctor did bloodwork, everything came back fine. Could this be mirena-related? The doctor made it seem like a miracle drug, I should have known... This is hell. Please, I'm only 17 and I don't take any other medications or drugs or anything. Has anyone tried paragard as an alternative? is it better?

MoreThis is a reply to # 1,865,836Waat?? Ur only 17 years old? Wth?? Get that thing out asap!. This thing is evil n ur body its only going to make u feel worst. Ur body is already trying to tell u something, its telling u, get this thing out of me!. Ur so young to be going through this hell of mirena. Its been 9mo since I had my mirena removed n im still going through hell. Ugh... get it out! I can't stress this enough! Pls.

Yes, the symptoms you have are common from the Mirena. For whatever reason, the Dr.'s refuse to acknowledge. Look back at some of the past posts and you will see how common your side effects are. You are so very young, I have a child older than you. If you were my daughter, I would want you to have it removed right away so not to make you more sick and to not jeopardize your chance of having a child someday when you are ready. I'm so sorry that you are going through this at such a young age and I know the hell only too well! Please have Mirena removed and don't let anyone persuade you to keep it! You know your own body and well done for making the connection with Mirena, it took me a lot longer. Please let us know how you are doing and come here for support when ever you need it!
I would advise that you take a supportive freind or parent with you when you have it removed.

This is a reply to # 1,865,893I think it's verging on malpractice to place a Mirena in someone so young. Progesterone birth control is bad for teenagers because your bones are still strenghthening. I know the DR. will say it stays in the uterus, but that is NOT TRUE! All of us on here would agree that the Mirena hormones went into our bodies. Please get it out.
I did try the paraguard before having children (which is not exactly recommended, either) and the main side effect I had was bad cramps during my period and random pinching. I think there wasn't much room in there since I'd never had a baby.

This is a reply to # 1,865,836Thanks everyone, I'm having abdominal pain and more weakness now. I should have listened to my instincts- hormones cannot be natural, and the same dose for everyone seems strange. I will be getting it removed ASAP, probably today. I can no longer lift my son for the pain. Thankfully my significant other is here and very supportive. You may be interested to know that mirena is heavily promoted to young moms because doctors think we are too irresponsible to remember pills. Paragard was never even mentioned to me by my doctor, but I will do a LOT more research before getting it. Thank you so much, I feel like you saved my life.- Re: help me clarebear
