When I followed the diet strictly, I usually erred on the side of caution when it came to questionable foods.
However, now that you've been following the diet for a while, you can give foods you aren't sure about a try and see if you react to them. Try them by themselves (or with foods you are sure are safe), so you don't become confused as to which foods caused your reaction if you have one.
I suggest you try them before a weekend in case you react. Then you will have couple of days to recover.
Listen to your body. It will tell you what's OK to eat.
I ate chestnuts before when I first started the diet. I was only dimly aware of how to maintain the diet then. I remember reacting to them, but I'm not sure if I reacted to them at first or if I became intolerant to them. I was having so many unfamiliar reactions then, I was really having a difficult time being sure of anything regarding food.
