Thanks for the info about Lobelia. I am aware of the precautions with it, and any herb, there are many natural substances that will have one effect in a small dose, but with too much, can cause the opposite effect. I have experienced this many times.
I feel there needs to be a response to these comments regarding Sculze and the old healers:
""For instance - Dr. Christopher classified Echinacea as a "blood cleanser" along with other alterative herbs. It is far from that (and much more than that).
Dr. Schulze claims (as do many other modern herbalists) that it "bolsters" and "revs up" the immune system. But it actually MODULATES the immune system (echinacea will stop a cytochine/chemokine storm by modulating an immune system forced into hyperdrive). And because it modulates the immune system, it can be extremely beneficial for auto-immune issues. Yet even with these 'errors of knowledge', they both used Echinacea appropriately. That's something that comes from "mileage" and from being seriously in-tune with our healer/spirit within.""
I don't think it is good to make blanket statements, as if written in stone, regarding herbs and what they do, (or about anything), it is the nature of our reality that things are constantly changing.
You say Echinachea is not a blood cleanser, but where did you get this information? Was it based on any kind of personal experience of yours or anyone you know, (if it was then awesome) or was it something that was read in a book? You say that Echinachea does not stimulate or "rev up" the immune system, again where does this information come? Is it experience or book knowledge.
Maybe Echinachea does what it needs to do for a particular person. Maybe one persons immune system needs to be modulated, and anothers stimulated or "revved up". We can never "know" every physiological process that takes place within the body as a result of a certain plant.
I think I can safely say that the old healers all had one thing that not one of us (that I know of) on Curezone has, decades of clinical practice working with real people, with real diseases, and using these herbs and plants every single day. With that kind of "mileage", as you put it, you develop a sense of what the plants are doing that goes far beyond what any book or scientific analysis can ever prove.
Thats not to say that we cannot improve upon what they did, but that improvement needs to come from real experience and most of all listening to what God is telling us in a particular moment.
For the sake of argument, I will state that in my studies, I have come across much information showing that Echinachea was used extensively by North American native peoples for blood cleansing. Again, though, this was just information, it doesn't make it right or wrong.
As I am sure you know, Dr. C was extremely connected to spirit, (as were native healers) and most of his formulas, (if not all) came directly from it. I am very distrustful of anything "science" based, and trust spiritual guidance and personal experience over
Science or "modern knowledge" any day of the week.
I do agree with what you are saying about being cautious with people who are on pharmacutical meds, and mixing them with herbs and natural remedies. People are definately taking much more of this poison these days than ever before and I agree that great caution needs to be excercised.
My two cents, or two dollars,
