I was searching in the archives for a natural antibiotic because I have tried almost all now. I came across several posts of people using LDM 100. Has anybody heard of this or taken it? I would love to hear from anybody that has tried it.
It says antibacterial and antifungal
Also antiviral.
LDM 100 is a tincture of a plant known as lomatium (Lomatium dissectum). I collect it once in a while in our local mountains, but do not use it very often. Lomatium is rich in blood thinning and photosensitizing coumarins. So I generally use other full range antiseptics like chaparral, pau d' arco and andrographis.
How come there isn't much talk about it?
It was somewhat popular back about 10 years ago or so, but it was like a short lived one hit wonder. I think a large part of the problem is that the company only had the one item. And companies often have to compete for shelf space in many health food stores so the stores often prefer that a company has a product line rather than a single product.
Is it pretty safe? Are there some side effects to watch out for?
It is a blood thinner and a photosensitizer primarily due to the coumarins in it. So it should not be taken with other blood thinners or if the person does not clot properly. And you need to avoid spending time in the sun since it will make your skin more likely to sunburn.
Thanks so much
Maggie
PS HV What do you usually use it for?
I collected it for some friends dealing with some viral infections and blended it with some other antivirals like osha' root for their conditions. I rarely use it though as there are so many safer choices for antivirals.
