Hello, yes, eye "detox" has been reported. PB3046 posted on the subject quite a bit, here's a post with links to her posts on the subject and how she dealt with her "eye detox", including recipes for homemade eye drops:

Now, LACK of iodine can cause dry eyes. I am guessing that the same mechanism that causes some to go temporarily hypo, some to go temporarily hyper, some to have painful breasts/ovaries/thyroid/joints/teeth is at play here.
And the amount of iodine that you are taking is certainly enough to cause some detox. I had symptoms of detox at very low doses as well.
To alleviate the symptoms, a few suggestions. Grate an organic potato or apple, make a compress with the gratings and let the juices seep into your eyes, that's said to be very soothing. And, of course, get some artificial tears. Also, try pulsing your dose, as in, 5 days on, 2 days off, 4 days on, 3 off or some variation. That will give your body time to catch up. And STAY HYDRATED!

"The human sodium iodide symporter (hNIS) is an intrinsic transmembrane protein that mediates the active transport of iodide across the basolateral membrane of thyroid follicular cells. In addition to normally functioning thyroid tissue, various extrathyroidal tissues, including salivary gland, lacrimal gland, gastric mucosa, choroid plexus, and lactating mammary gland, have been demonstrated to accumulate iodide.
