pityriasis was the term used for
Seborrheic Dermatitis and/or dandruff from at least the period of the renaissance up until the early 1900's
pityriasis and furfur are mentioned in the pauli aeginetae "medici opera" or ("medical guide")
written by paulus aegineta and Joannes Guinterius, per vuendelinum rihelium, in 1542. published shortly after the italian renaissance, which is regarded as having ended in 1511.
