I've never used the supplement Betaine, but I've had good results from drinking fresh beet juice (which contains large amounts of Betaine). I juice two LARGE beets along with some carrot, spinach, apple or
Celery juice (or any combination.... as long as there are plenty of beets..... the best combination I've found was beet and carrot) (if you live in a large city, you may be able to find a juice bar that will do this for you if you don't have a juicer at home) and then drink it.... put a heating pad over your liver/gallbladder area on and off for an hour or so and then drink some fiber (like psyllium)......then drink LOTS of water.
Oxypowder may work also, but I've never tried it. I would think the psyllium would be better because it "grabs" the junk that the liver/gallbladder releases and moves it out of the body. The next day when you go to the bathroom, you should notice a bunch of black, smelly stuff "attached" to the fiber. You won't get any stones out this way (probably) and it's not a substitute for the flush, but it really does seem to help cleasne the liver to a degree. Betaine in a supplement form may work also, but I would tend to think that the live enzymes in the juice make this method much more powerful. (although it CAN be "messy" if you don't have a juice bar that can do it for you)
Hope this helps.
