I have a rash that won't go away. It started on my left hand on my ring finger. I thought it was caused by an irritant that got trapped under my wedding ring (which I've worn for 12 years with no prior issues, no metal allergies). My finger felt itchy and warm around the band area and I began to notice very tiny bumps. The bumps are pimply, but skin colored, not whiter than my natural tone, not red. The bumps are randomly spread out, not clusters, not a raised wheel, not ringworm, and it doesn't match the pictures of scabies I've seen. When I itch these teeny tiny bumps, an oily or watery substance sometimes comes out. I tried using hydrocortisone creams and waited for it to go away on it's own. Hydrocortisone creams didn't have much affect. It didn't really fix the itch that well and the rash did not clear up. Instead, it slowly spread to other fingers and eventually to my other hand. The rash does not appear anywhere else on my body, and it is not on the backs of my hands. It is isolated to the palms, mainly the creases and "web" area, on the sides of my fingers and up to the knuckle joint. I've had the rash for over 6 months. It never goes away, but sometimes it seems to flare up, become more itchy, and then calms down. Soap doesn't irritate it, but for some reason shampoo makes it sting when it's flared up. A few weeks ago, I thought it might be fungal, so I started to use an anti-fungal cream. Instead of going away, it seems to be worse. The cream dried out my skin, so now it's a red, flaky rash (like eczema) which cracks and bleeds. It was never like this before the anti-fungal cream. In addition, a new symptom has started. When I wake up in the morning, the rash smells bad, like stinky feet or like a dish rag that's been sitting in the sink for a few days. The scent goes away after I wash my hands, and I wash them frequently enough throughout the day that I don't notice a bad smell any other time, just when I first wake up. The rash does not appear to be highly contagious. My 3 kids and husband have not gotten it. I have stopped using the antifungal cream, since it didn't seem to be helping. I'm not using any creams or lotions at all. It remains flaky and red now, although the sides of some of my fingers still have the original tiny bumps. What the heck is this and how do I treat it?
