Ive wondered the same thing. Ive completed 37
Liver Cleanses over the course of 7 yrs & have benefited greatly, but some cleanses left me drained for 2-3 days post flush. Additionally, I tested positive for mercury about 5 yrs ago and began a proper mercury removal/chelation protocol. (Andrew Cutler: low dose then switched to high dose)
After completing many
Liver Cleanses you start to hit a stride and become attuned to what your body is trying to tell you. Initially I chalked up my difficult 2-3 post liver cleanse days to my body absorbing/processing deeply stored toxins within the liver.
Then i got curious and wondered what would happen if I chelated my mercury the day of my liver cleanse & the 2-3 days that follow. Eureka! That was it. Now my
Liver Cleanses leave me feeling great; even during that dreadful next morning.
So I'm convinced that a cleanse releases toxins (namely mercury) then DMSA & ALA effectively attract and excrete the body's mercury burden.
I wish you the best in your pursuit for health.

PS: Please exercise a generous amount of knowledge & caution when going down the path of proper mercury chelation.
