yes, it's possible for mold to grow in the intestines and make you ill.
I got really ill 2 years ago due to too many
Antibiotics .
I got a really severe, systematic yeast infection.
In addition, I had stool testing done, and it showed an overgrowth of pathogenic bacteria, yeast, and MOLD!
So, the infections caused damage to my intestinal lining... and hence my nightmare with Leaky Gut Syndrome started.
Lots of
food allergies resulted, including gluten and dairy, and lots of random foods. For me, I get brain fog and skin rashes and eczema from eating foods I am intolerant to.
Worst of all, the intestinal lining damage caused me problems with malabsorption. I lost 50 lbs even though I was eating lots of calories (but no
Sugar at this time). I could not absorb completely crucial vitamins and minerals needed for my immune system to fight infection and for my body to heal... Any of this sound familiar?
I am much better now.
I sought out help from a holistic MD, who put me on necessary vitamins/minerals, etc. We did stool testing, which revealed the mold. She put me on some natural antifungals (caprylic acid formula), probiotics, and recommended that I drink
Essiac tea. I had to do vitamin C flushes every 1-2 weeks.
colonics were also part of my regimen, though not necessarily ordered by my doc, but she didn't discourage it either. Through heavy metal testing, we discovered I was high in lead, as well as extremely deficient in B12. I was put on B12 injections, which was the turning point in my health, and we did some chelation for the lead. She continues to monitor my bloodwork to make sure my iron, calcium, thyroid, etc are all inline.
I'm feeling great and my adrenal fatigue is gone.
I still have leaky gut and
food intolerances , though it is much, much better. I get tested for my
food intolerances periodically, so it's impt that I stay away from foods that cause me the most problems. I've recently been treated for hypothyriodism, which has made me feel even better.
I am now trying some accupuncture, to see if it can help my leaky gut as well as balance my hormones.
I suggest seeking out an MD that practices holistic medicine (osteopath). Many of your symptoms could be the result of nutritional deficiencies and
food intolerances (similar to what I experienced). Normal doctors are likely not going to be able to help (they could not help me either).
