I have the bad habit of posting without providing links to support my statements. I do admit to it. But if you review my posts you will find out that, some times, I do provide links.
However, in this case, I am not thinking of any particular link. And also this is not a personal opinion of mine. It is the result of the general consensus of many: the definition of fasting per se implies we do not use any nutrition or substances other than water. It is so obvious it would require just the reading of elementary literature about it.
Some people like what they call "modified" fast. It is their right to do as they please. There are also people who fast to lose weight and not for perfect health (of course, losing weight alone is helpful to regain health)
In my previous post,
"This is not a big deal for many. But if you go deeper into the study of fasting, you might not feel ok with it."
Notice I realize that "this is not a big deal for many", allowing room for other opinions and ways. It is not my intention to offend any one.
Nevertheless, "deeper" study of fasting will show you why ingesting vitamins or any other substances, goes against the definition of
Water Fasting and its goals.
There are several "water" fasting forums in curezone to illustrate what I am trying to say. You can explore them, at least to know the difference among them.
Any one can post here, regardless of their opinion. The free exchange of ideas can only be helpful.
I confess I am not able to explain to satisfaction why ingesting vitamins is contraindicated in a true water fast.Basically, you do not want to busy your digestion system when it is meant to rest to allow the body to do repairs and constructive work . That is the purpose of the fast. Also, you confuse the body, there are a chain of chemical reactions in fasting.... you break this chain when you introduce the vitamins. The body will not do what a body in "fasting mode" does... It will be forced to react to the new elements, and will think it is getting nutrition. Of course, not enough...so, it will feel in "starvation" and will react, biochemically, to it.
Really, not difficult to find out why. This is understood in the definition of fasting and not much study is needed to find it out. Fasting is as old as humankind itself. There is a lot written about it, the accumulated work of many authorities over the centuries.
When I found this forum, long time ago, I made it a point to read all its pages and the references provided by the former members, particularly those from Chris b and others. I did get myself a few books from the library and from Amazon. In other words, I read about the subject, and never stopped reading about it. As it is known, the subject is old and much have been written, but I wanted to feel that I knew at least the basics before posting here for the first time. But, then, by doing that, I had learned what a real
Water Fast entails.
I am sure many fellow fasters can brilliantly clarify what we are discussing here. In the mean time, please keep in mind, that I acknowledge your right to dissent.
I hope I did not offend you.
