Hi there,
First, congratulations on having the willpower to do such as strong cleanse!
I`ve done many
Liver Flushes and Master Cleanses, plus read about people who have combined them (I haven`t) and their results. I hope my experience might help you.
It is best to wait until your liver function returns to normal after fasting. The recovery period after fasting is 1/3 of the fasting period. So, if you will complete a 21-day fast, you need a minimum of 7 days to recover.
The first few days should be just juices. I`d recommend freshly squeezed orange juice to start, but the experts in the
Water Fasting support forum might have better ideas. After the orange juice (?), small amounts of freshly juiced vegetables and fruit are good. You might want to mix them with water at first, if your stomach gets sore after drinking straight juice. Next, if you follow a similar protocol as for the Master Cleanse, vegetable soup is good to get you accustomed to solid foods. The first day with soup, just the liquids. After a day or two, you can begin to start eating solids. Take it easy at first, and be prepared to feel that all your energy is getting sucked into your digestive tract, because the first solid food seems to do that, at least for me. Oh yes, if you can get wakame (a kind of dark green sea-weed), that is an excellent addition to any vegetable soup. Just throw in a handful of dried, cut-up wakame to the top of your soup. It has a lot of minerals, which will help your electrolyte levels.
After that, you can start with salads. At first, I`d recommend against salad dressing, or if you must have something, lemon juice or orange juice. Give yourself at least one more day before adding fats.
When you feel ok with that, then you could try salad dressings. One I like is 1 tablespoon of flaxseed oil with 1 tablespoon of lemon juice (freshly juiced) blended with a raw piece of garlic and any herbs/spices you like.
If your system is ok with salad dressing, you could add meat (if you want to eat meat).
I`d recommend that you do not do the actual
Liver Flush itself before testing your system with a little oil. This is what will truly wake up your liver and gallbladder, and you want to make sure they are in good shape before you drink a lot of olive oil, which is part of the liver flush.
How will you know if you`re ready? You will have solid bms again - after a long water fast, this might take a few days. The solid bms should be dark brown in colour. If they are tan or orange, the bile and/or intestinal floral is insufficient for good digestion. Less of an indication, but if the bms float, the oil (once it has been added to your diet) is not being properly metabolized, or there is a lot of gas trapped in the fecal matter, both of which indicate that your digestive system needs a little more time to regain normal function.
It is possible that you could follow this plan, or a similar plan, and also drink the apple juice every day, which helps to prepare for the
Liver Flush - and you could find that your liver is ready by Day 7 (not Day 6, which is the minimum for the liver flush). Your best bet is to listen to your body as you add nutrition to it. It your stomach or gut aches, you need to slow down. If your bms do not indicate that your digestive system appears to be ready by Day 7, it`s best to wait a day or two longer. No one can tell you exactly how long your particular body will take to be ready. But your body will always tell you!
