Telman,
Do you have a link or source that you could point me to (or post) that would describe (in layman's terms or otherwise), the actual effect of alcohol on the liver?
I have a distant family member that SWEARS a few beers every night isn't causing his body any damage at all. But I remember a lecture in college that followed "a beer" throughout the bloodstream, and I recall the alcohol is first turned to formaldehyde (similar) by the liver, and it took something like three complete 'rounds' through the liver/bloodstream to be completely eliminated/detoxed, and for the blood to return to normal. I know alcohol is very 'liver toxic', but I just can't find a good proof or description to send him.
My husband and I (52 & 46 years old) just finished college a few years ago, so you'd think I could remember/find those old lecture notes, but I can't find them anywhere! grrrr.
No hurry, don't go to any special trouble...maybe I'll find what I need when I'm searching again later this evening.
