I have SIBO and candidiasis. It is claimed that SIBO is very common in people with IBS. Those suffering chronic candidiasis have an immune system stuck in Th2 mode, to the detriment of Th1 which is required to fight Candida. Since my SIBO got much worse recently, my body has been ungoing a massive immune response, causing very high cortisol levels, anxiety and insomnia (TH2 response).
My theory is that SIBO causes the immune system to shift into Th2 mode, leaving the bowel susceptible to infection with Candida. This suggests to me that until the original inflammation caused by SIBO is resolved, the immune system will remain in Th2 mode, and candidiasis cannot be resolved.
