If there is anyone out there who has experienced some eye issues that maybe didn't get a chance to get fully worked through...
My last fast was 26 days...and perhaps I needed longer. But in any case, I had some eye issues after...things like sticky and swollen eyes. This went on for a few days.
The thing that helped me with all of this was Dr. Christopher's eyewash
you can make this yourself, very easily, and will love the results. ( and feel so empowerd and inspired.)
(Dr. Christopher is an Herbalist, now passed on)
the ingredients are:
I part raspberry leaf
I part golden seal, (root or leaf--I use both or either)
1/4 part (I think) cayenne
1 part bayberry (which I've not been yet able to get--and still, the formula works. So, do not worry about perfection)
and, I part eyebright
You make a strong infusion of this, (steep several hours)then strain it and refridgerate.
Put a couple droppersfull in the eyes, and ideally, trace the letters of the alphabet or a short poe or prayer you like, with the eyes closed.
This stings for a short time--Do not fear--and maybe streams from the eyes...Again, do not fear! All will be well. It's nice to do in the bath, when you are naturally resting for a few minutes. Don't do it just before rushing out the door...
Then, drink an ounce or so of the infusion--because the beauty and blessing of the herbal tradition is, whatever
is good for you externally, is good for you internally...
I had some semi-serious eye issues and took this for about a week after my last fast--and my eyes became better and better each day. And stronger. After the first time, they feel relieved. This is good for eyestrain, simple redness, allergy eyes, and more serious isssues.
You will learn (quickly!)to love it!!
The first time I ever got cayenne (on its own) in my eyes, I was making kimchi. It burned like hell, and I thought I would lose my sight--(drama) but amazingly, after a few minutes of copious tears, my eyes were bright and white and felt strong.
Eyebright is a classic herb for any sort of eye issues...It's very good just to keep the eyes happy.
Hope I have inspired someone.
