I've been on Armour a few years.
reposting this as got missed
Is kelp good enough for my iodine needs?
Yes, kelp provides a fair amount of iodine.
Also do we have to be on your tonic/or what we put together ourselves for life?
Since something caused the hypothyroidism in the first place chances are the cause will still be present. If so the Thyroid Tonic may be needed long term, although if things get balanced I often have people cut back to a maintenance dose such as once a day or once ever other day.
So if i took 6 months to do it, and i cut down by a 1/4 G of Armour every 2 weeks or so, does that sound okay.
Being you have been on it for so many years a little slower would probably be a good idea such as reducing ever 3 to 4 weeks. Regardless of how you do it pay attention to your symptoms. If you get severe hypothyroid symptoms suddenly then you are coming off to quick and you should go back to your last dosage a little longer.
I still have a lipid disorder, well i'm going by the orange stain still on my inner upper eyelids. I know thyroid problems can cause these problems, not utilizing fats properly. This hasn't cleared up on Armour, and i worry about arthersclerosis? and heart/strokes etc.
Here is a post on xanthomas:

As i've said i've tried stuff before so forgive me for being a bit sceptical that its going to work. I did two lots of 6 months on lots of expensive supplements recommended to me once and that was before i was on Armour, and it didn't work. I wasn't working on my liver then though.
I understand. And sometimes it can be hard to find things that will work since many disorders, including hypothyroidism, have many causes. Just taking iodine for example will not work for all causes of hypothyroidism. This is why I try to cover as many bases as possible, such as cAMP for thyroid regulation, which I have not ever seen addressed in any other thyroid formula.
What is the significance of cAMP in hypothyroidism?
I didn't even know what it stood for until i googled it.
cAMP increases thyroid hormone production by increasing iodine uptake by thyroid cells and reduces apoptosis of thyroid cells.
How many issues does your thyroid formula address? CAMp, iodine, are there others?
Blocking rT3 elevation, supporting the adrenals that has a feedback with the thyroid and for Hashimoto's , slight hormone balancing effects and aiding T4 to T3 conversion.
What i don't understand is if Armour is replacing hormones than why isn't it regulating the lipids?
If i get my own thyroid working properly will it then do this?
The thyroid is only part of the body's lipid regulation. The liver plays more of a role. But regulating the thyroid will help with lipid regulation and prevention of plaque formation. For elevated triglycerides chromium polynicotinate and fish oils are recommended.
