There is a man I work with. He has a young son that is in junior high today. A couple years ago his elementary school class participated in the grade school's annual Science exposition. Each year elementary students are invited to pick a simple scientific demonstration to perform for those in attendance.

This man's son wanted to do this water / plant experiment. He had read about it on the internet and had heard that this demonstrates how microwaves destroy life.... of course the same can be true for conventioanl ovens as they too destroy life, just not as dramatically as microwaves. *

His teacher prohibited him from doing this experiment and demanded he pick another experiment for demonstration. When pressed for an answer the teacher said that there is nothing to be gained by demonstrating this as such an experiment would be a waste of time. I really do not think my co-worker ever really caught on to what happened here.
I think he basically had enough faith in the school system and teacher to not really ask questions, to not really think any more about this.

In my opinion this clearly demonstrates a teacher exhibiting their thorough & effective programming as a result of regular Teachers In-service Training....or in other words, the DDDoA in action !

* the main thing that is so insideous about the way microwaves destroy life is that they literally change the molecular structure of items that are microwaved. Microwaves cause the actual molecules to move back and forth... to "vibrate" so to speak. It is this moving back and forth very rapidly that generates heat. In the end it alters the item being cooked. In other words, say you put some typical food in the oven, like a potato. When it comes out, it might still look sort of like a potato but it is no longer truly a potato. What is it? It is microwaved ! This is different from regular conventional ovens. With these they produce the heat - such as from a burner or flame - that is then applied to the item to be cooked. With microwaves, it is the item being cooked that is generating the heat by virtue of its guts being caused to shake back and forth quite rapidly.

I've wanted to do this experiment for a long time, but we haven't had a microwave for somewhere around 6-8 years...and I'm not about to spend money on one now! lol

Another "experiment" to do? Put a plant IN a microwave on defrost for 30 seconds, and put another plant in a warm toaster oven (or dunk it in warm water) for 30 seconds...and then see which one you'd rather eat the next day :)
