On a broder basis, Adrenal Fatigue qualify as part of a new class of conditions called mind-body conditions which include POTS, an ANS dysfunction. The mind, through the various neurotransmitters and chemical messengers, modulate hormonal output that ultimately controls adrenal function. This is especially obvious when you see how the sympathetic nervous system is involved in the whole spectrum of advance adrenal fatigue. It is clear that you cannot "fix" adrenal itself without working on the mind as well. The question is how?
The traditional concept of approaching the mind needs to be revisited. Our current understanding of how the brain works is still in its infancy. The many drugs available only works on a very very minute part of the millions of pathways that has yet to be known. For example, the exact physiological power of the Adrenal Breathing Exercise in activation of the proper mind channels is still unknown. But the healing power of proper breathing has been around for centuries. So there is little doubt how effective it is when mastered and done properly in Adrenal Fatigue recovery ( vs. triggering of crashes when not done properly on the converse. No one knows how it works, but it works. That is what counts. Just because we don't know the reasons and mechanism does not invalidate a methodology. The body never lies. Listen to the body and you will not go wrong too far. We will try to teach you with time. Most of us don't listen enough. We trust our brains and our studies too much, to our disadvantage when it comes to Adrenal Adrenal Fatigue.
Trying to figure out what is going on is a great exercise for the mind and satisfy our ego but will not work well in Adrenal Fatigue recovery as it drains you of energy that you can otherwise devote to calm the mind and enjoy life, both of which will affect faster overall recovery. This is very hard for most intense people ( who are the ones that get Adrenal Fatigue). If trying to figure out the physiological basis of how recovery works is the key, most people will not be in advance Adrenal Fatigue. Theories only work when we know the basis of how the body function ,and in the case of AF, our knowledge is in infancy. Trying to extrapolate what we know into a predictable bodily response will not work well for those in advance stages, and disappointment will set in as a matter of time because there are too many variables that cannot be explained at this time. We do not try to figure out each and every pathway, but focus on the big picture - help the body heal as part of a Total Body Approach. This is where experience comes in as there is no other way. It is an art and not a science. Too much dissection will backfire. Just like a body, if you dissect it too much, you kill the body. That is one major flaw of modern medicine. The more you try to figure things out, the slower will be your recovery. It does not mean we don't learn, but it means we learn with the right perceptive. The more you can let go of the inquisitive compulsion, should that exist, and follow instructions and enjoy life along the way in a balanced fashion, the faster will be your recovery.
