Bogus!!
This obvious slam against natural supplements is unfounded and unsupported, but all the major news networks reported it.
Dr. Besser on ABC news gave his added authority to these bogus reports - shame on you Dr. Besser. Shame on all the US news networks!!
And the comments on the ABC website shows that I am not alone in slamming the report:
------My comment:
BOGUS!! Dr. Besser claims that
Colloidal Silver [CS] "has not been proven to kill bacteria", and that is a total lie, CS absolutely is antimicrobial and yes bacteria die when exposed to silver. This has been known for over 100 years.
Also, the writeup says CS can cause kidney damage and neurological problems", and that is right off the wall, they just made that up.
As for "turning blue", that does NEVER happen when CS is made and used properly, and those rare cases where people may have turned blue-ish were from huge overdoses of very roughly made silver, like boiling a silver spoon for hours and hours. That form of silver is not even "colloidal" like the properly made CS is.
This is just "humping for the pharmaceutical industry" who fears the effectiveness of CS.
I have personally used CS, properly made by myself, for 10 years without a hint of any problems. I am certainly not blue!!
-----------other comments:
I think it is worth pointing out that Prescription drugs killed 50,000 people from 2003-07 vs. 11 from Dietary Supplements. This is from the GAO and not a made up #. There are certainly dangerous products out there that should be reviewed, but the majority of the products are safe for consumption.
Yeah, I agree with the other comments. This is just ridiculous. Pretty much every (or maybe every single) drug I've ever been prescribed comes with a sheet or two of warnings, side effects, threats of liver damage, kidney damage, rashes, jaundice, heart problems, ligament problems, etc. And these are mostly just
Antibiotics ! Any medication, supplement, etc. can have its risks. Look at the real reason they would like you to give up supplements: $100 doctor visit, prescriptions that cost several hundred dollars (if you want a real thrill look up the prices on psychiatric medications - one person I know has them and they are like $30 a PILL!) Those drugs should be WAY cheaper - we don't want people who are bi-polar running around WITHOUT their meds, and this girl only takes hers when she has them handy! Look at the executives of these companies enjoying frighteningly huge profits. Laws need to be in place to stop this.
Colloidal Silver is a good product to help boost immune function, that guy who turned blue BLATANTLY overdosed! I remember his story a while back, he practically chugged the bottle! CS in proper doses is shown to help, not harm
It should come as no surprise that a medical doctor speaks out against the use of supplements. Pharmaceuticals are the biggest racquet ever and medical doctors all over this country receive "kick-backs" for prescribing them. If I could re-sell all of the full or half-full prescriptions that I have filled in the last 12 months, I could open a pharmacy of my own! As it turns out, the only problem I had all of these months was a vitamin B12 and Vitamin D deficiency for which I was prescribed SUPPLEMENTS!
Sensationalism. Instilling fears. Dispatching partial truths. Where did good news reporting go? Why is it so many "news" programs are sounding like 'A Current Affair'? Doomsdayers cry out!!! "The Sky is Falling! I'm going to go now, It's going to take all day gorging on peppermint leaves to kill myself.
You people are kidding, right? Who in their right mind gives any credence to a guy who has the nerve to - with a straight face, mind you - tell us that supplements aren't safe because the FDA doesn't regulate them? This is the same FDA who approves all the drugs that are daily advertised on TV that can cause "liver damage, heart problems, high blood pressure, depression, thoughts of suicide, uncontrollable violent urges and DEATH". Ask my doctor first? Yeah right....Must be a really really slow news day. GMA, you lost me.
I have been taking collodial silver for the last couple of months. I have chronic infections because of my teeth (which will be remedied within the next two weeks finally) however, I have been working with a nutritionist on this. I NEED to know if there is a difference in the Collodial Silver's manufacturers and its overall content etc. that makes a difference? It seems a rather irresponsible statement to say "Collodial Silver" is bad for you as a blanket statement. I hate
Antibiotics , therefore take C.S.
Antibiotics works on the premise that it will kill the ailment before it kills the host. The host being my body. Antibiotics (too many) which are prescribed at the drop of a dime, can cause very harsh and horrible side effects. One could make a blanket statement that they are 'bad' as well. The list goes on and on. I feel that if the statement above regarding C.S. is made, it should be qualified. Elizabeth McCormick NY
You must be kidding, right? Some guy who sanctifies himself with an "MD" behind his name has the nerve to - with a straight face - "warn" us about the dangers of some herbs when, every day, we see hundreds of ads on TV for FDA approved drugs that can cause liver damage, depression, thoughts of suicide, heart damage, high blood pressure etc, etc, etc. I'm assuming the implication is that the FDA needs to regulate supplements or I need to talk to a doctor in order to keep myself safe - I guess because I'm too dumb to figure it out. Wow - GMA you just lost me as a viewer.

When I went to the link to the Consumer Reports page on the "Dirty Dozen", it did not show up. I did a "search" there too, and it did not come up. I guess they just let the news networks repeat the lies, and then don't give us a chance to read it for ourselves?? {if you find that report please post a link here in reply, ok?}
