Psoriasis is an autoimmune disease. This means your body is turning against itself; this will leave room for external attack to invade your system. There are no known causes for the condition but exposure to pollution, toxins from drug intake and even the food you eat play major roles.

A skin biopsy may be performed to confirm the diagnosis. The disease is not contagious and so it cannot be spread through direct contact.

You will need to proceed with caution as the disease may develop in areas of sunburn. Premature aging and skin cancer may occur because of too much exposure to ultraviolet radiation.
Soaking yourself in warm water that contains bath oil or tar solution can soften Psoriasis and lift the scale. You can also use soaps or any good soap substitute. Do not use antiseptics as it may cause irritation.
There is no known prevention. You should endeavor to keep your skin clean and moist. Try avoiding triggers point so that you can reduce the number of flare ups. Medical experts recommend daily baths or showers for persons with Psoriasis. You should avoid scratching or scrubbing too hard, as this can irritate the skin and trigger and attack.
