There are more ways to come back from a
Water Fast than high water-content fruit; as lovely as that can be, esp. when it's high quality, ripe and fresh.
Do a search for example on the amazingly beneficial properties of alfalfa, which contains vit. D, calcium, potassium and so much more, and is remarkable for its roots and its ability to bring minerals up from great depths. It also has the ability to keep calcium IN bones, and out of arteries. We often think of green powders, in smoothies and so on, but forget that the plain cut herb steeped as tea is a wonderful way to drink 'water', and get "food" as well, when the body is still in 'fasting mode'. This ought to help too with keeping the tendency to excess at bay-->>that feeling that one wants to (maybe needs to) eat a lot, and quickly. Much of that reaction is simply a need to remineralize, and the instinct is to do it with a variety of food.
But think of the (deceptively) simple green herbs.
Nettles- another incredible food source, which, steeped into a tea can be mildy salted with a *good
Sea Salt *, and makes a delicious and energizing broth. I like to add garlic to this sometimes. (Raw food talk: I tried the nettle tea yesterday as a replacement for plain water in making flax crackers--warning; this reduces the gel-like properties of the soaked flax, and means you will end up adding more, and more, and more seed to get it to stiffen. It took a surprising amount.)
There are lots of herbs that make nourishing teas and simple broths, and will be good re-mineralizers and transitional 'meals'. Be sure and buy the plain organic cut herb, if possible, maybe that you can even smell for freshness, and not packaged tea bags. You can put the spent herb in the compost, or somewhere else it can return to the earth. (in a park, etc...)
C. I'm having some alfalfa tea now, it's very good. It would be nice too with a little lemon grass, or raspberry leaf...You could also add a touch of raw honey for energy. (I'm trying to break my latest habit, which is green chai--think I'm probably drinking it too much, and am trying to alternate with other herbs.
