Read the directions carefully.
Those four spoonfuls mixed into three cups of water translate into four individual doses to be consumed at four different time intervals.
So it really translates into one spoonful per serving.
As far as it being natural or not, I'd be curious to know as well.

I did 3 Liver Flushes - first one witn no stones out, second - 10 chick-pea size stones and 3rd - about 20 stones out. During my first flush I used 4 teaspoons of ES (Dr Clar's recipe)instead of 4 tablespoons (purely due to not paying enough attention).However, it still gave me very bad butt-pee. So decided to reduce my ES dosage to 3 teaspoons and it wasn't too bad - as I wrote above 30 stones out all together. Can you imagine how bad the diarrha would be had I taken 4 tablespoons!!!

I am not advicing you to use less ES as I am myself still not sure whether I should increase the dosage to get better results next time I do the flush. But I thought my story could give you more information about ES.
