I just completed day four out of 25-35 days (I'll stop when I feel those "sharp" pains that supposedly come). My question is, was it normal that I didn't experience any uncomfortable feelings of hunger?
I'm assuming its because I weigh 245lbs (now 233lbs) at 6' that meant my body was okay making the transition over. It might not hurt that I am only 20 years old. I am surprised though as my last meal was a Large Dairy Queen Blizzard. I am working the entire period of this fast (minus weekends) and haven't seen a drop in energy levels one bit (I was working out 4-5 times a week for the past 4 months [lost 20lbs from that]). This is my first fast longer than 72 hours. I am doing this fast to begin a weight loss program to help push me towards a goal weight of 180lbs.
Also if someone would look over my plan that would be great:
Breaking the fast:
Juice fasting for 5 days, I went through an entire grocery store today (didn't eat a thing) and bought 6 half gallon bottles of organic fruit juices (no added sugar) that will be diluted in water.
Also bought a case of 33 V8 Low Sodium Vegetable Juice cans that I will drink diluted as well if I can handle the acidic taste.
The following 7 days will be Low Sodium Progresso soups that are under 300 calories a can, unleavened gluten free crackers, apples, raisins, pears, and watermelon plus unsalted and raw walnuts, pecans, soy nuts, and almonds.
Depending on how much weight I lose I will then transition into either the Nutrisystem meal plan ($10 a day) or begin a Liquid Slim Fast plan (3 cans x 300 calories + soup for dinner) to reach my goal weight.
Hi Mainefast. Great job :).
"My question is, was it normal that I didn't experience any uncomfortable feelings of hunger?"
Sounds great, i would say a bit rare, but not abnormal. Makes it nice.
"I just completed day four out of 25-35 days (I'll stop when I feel those "sharp" pains that supposedly come)."
I'm not familiar with the sharp pains you refer to. What do you mean and where did you hear this? Do you mean the return to Genuine hunger?
"I am surprised though as my last meal was a Large Dairy Queen Blizzard."
haha, this made me laugh, sorry :).
"I am working the entire period of this fast (minus weekends) and haven't seen a drop in energy levels one bit..."
I would say that this is even more rare than having no hunger the entire time. Your body is acting as if your toxemia is very low, but i don't understand why that would be so.
"Also if someone would look over my plan that would be great:"
"* 25-35 days, consuming only water (I flip between Distilled and Spring Water each day)"
Fasting experts would recommend that you flip between Distilled and Distilled. The inorganic minerals in spring water are detrimental, not beneficial. As well distilled does a better job of pulling toxins out of your body, such materials ironically as inorganic minerals that your body can not use.
"* No supplements like my regular fish oil or multivitamin. I have Celtic Sea Salt in case I need to do a Oral Flush/Enema and 2 Medical Enemas in case I get extreme bowel disturbances. "
No supplements is best, no salt is best and no enemas is best. But i hear what you're saying that the enema bags are there only for an extreme situation.
"* Will be brushing my teeth with regular toothpaste, Tom's of Maine mouthwash, and using a tea-tree oil facial cleaner nightly."
No toothpaste is best. Anything that has taste can interfere with the beneficial internal transitions that take place in a water-only fast. I would recommend brushing only with distilled water.
"Juice fasting for 5 days..."
This sounds very good, depending on how long you go, you might even find with samplings of whole fruit to see how it feels that additional days of juicing will be necessary.
"I went through an entire grocery store today (didn't eat a thing) and bought 6 half gallon bottles of organic fruit juices (no added sugar) that will be diluted in water."
"Also bought a case of 33 V8 Low Sodium Vegetable Juice cans that I will drink diluted as well if I can handle the acidic taste."
Experts would recommend fresh, live organic juice that you would make for yourself in a juicer far and away above bottled juice. This would include home made fresh juiced vegetable broths.
"The following 7 days will be Low Sodium Progresso soups that are under 300 calories a can, unleavened gluten free crackers, apples, raisins, pears, and watermelon plus unsalted and raw walnuts, pecans, soy nuts, and almonds."
Ideally the next 7 days would consist of whole fruits and vegetables. Home made vegetable soups would be a great part of this and would be highly preferential to canned.
Following this and depending on your lifestyle, you would ideally add the nuts, some whole grains and beans and maybe but not necessarily some fish and/or non-commercial meat.
"Depending on how much weight I lose I will then transition into either the Nutrisystem meal plan ($10 a day) or begin a Liquid Slim Fast plan (3 cans x 300 calories + soup for dinner) to reach my goal weight."
A lot of possibilities here, but another way to go is eating highly nutritious natural foods, a vegetable based diet also with a lot of fruit. 70% or more of your diet coming from veg and fruits would be great and organic wherever possible, a large portion of it raw. Ideally you would stay away from cans, jars and packages as the food industry sneaks such delights as msg, high sodium, artificial flavors and colors and other chemicals into them. Nature has done a much better job than man in creating healthy foods. Incorporating nutrient dense foods as recommended by Dr. Fuhrman would be ideal.

I am not saying that you couldn't achieve your weight loss goals with canned products, but it would be great to establish optimal health along the way with the most nutritious possible foods.
It sounds like you are doing great! Congrats on the 20 pounds you lost before the fast, this is excellent. Best wishes as you continue.
