Hello. I'm 40 years old. About 4 years ago I started to experience pain when getting a second erection within a few hours of ejaculating. Soon I was getting the penis pain even without the second erection. It would begin about an hour after ejaculating and might last for many hours at a time. It was an all over ache and soreness, kind of like a sore muscle. It had nothing to do with the outside skin of the penis, it was all interior. Often the ache seemed to encompass the whole genital area. If I had sex right before going to sleep, I would sometimes wake up in the middle of the night with a painful, throbbing erection. Another strange thing that started happening was that shortly after sex, my penis would shrink back down to its flaccid size but it would remain strangely firm/hard.
I went to a urologist who prescribed Septra after hearing my symptoms and doing a prostate exam. (It was painful when he pushed firmly on my prostate) After 10 days on Septra I developed a rash on my palms and neck so I had to stop taking it. I didn't notice any improvement in that time. He then prescribed Cipro but I read scary stuff about that one and chose not to take it. I wasn't convinced this was prostate related anyway. My libido began to suffer due to the fear of pain, and I experimented with various supplements, even the broccoli juice protocol. Ugh! Nothing worked. Since then I have frequently scoured the internet looking for an answer to my problem but found little information. Last week I found a thread in a forum with guys who had similar sounding symptoms, some of them in my age range, others just teenagers. One of them had the answer. I didn't believe it when I read it but now I believe it's true. Basically the pain is caused by semen being left behind in the shaft. The solution is to make sure all the semen comes out after the ejaculation. I suggest letting your penis go flaccid after sex and then squeezing out every last drop as if you're emptying a tube of toothpaste. As I mentioned, I also get a deeper ache, not just in the penis. I discovered if I started this emptying process on the perineum (just in front of the anus) and glided my fingers all the way to the tip of the penis (maintaining pressure while passing between the testicles) I could remove several more drops that were hiding. This greatly improved my symptoms! Another good idea is to drink some water right before sex so that you will urinate shortly after so as to clean out the urethra.
I'm posting this to help anyone else out there who might be dealing with these types of symptoms and frustrated that there aren't any answers. I plan to re post this on multiple forums/sites.
Theory: I think I may have brought this condition on myself. For many years before this problem started, I practiced some Tantric techniques to achieve multiple orgasms. I would stop stroking right before ejaculating, then start again, over and over and over. I would also purposely relax all the muscles in the area right as I was starting to ejaculate. I think this may have permanently altered the normal functioning of my ejaculations.
One of the guys on the other thread had a theory that masturbating while sitting upright in a chair (while watching porn on the computer) might be causing this problem in others. He also thought that the pain itself was caused by the left over semen hardening inside the urethra. I really don't know. Maybe we have a low level prostate infection and the bacteria is irritating the insides?
In any case, please post a reply if any of this has helped you, and also if you have any ideas or theories yourself.
