Just an fyi to note that it has now been nearly 7 weeks since my last cigarette. Aside from the diary effect of posting this I'd also like to provide some info on the off chance it might help somebody else.
Two things that I would like to note about my success so far. These are noteworthy to me because they are two variables that were not present on all the other times I tried to quit and did not succeed as far as I have this time. Like many smokers, I tried (roughly speaking) at least 5 times previously, probably closer to 10 times, but with few exceptions, alla those attempts never lasted more than a couple hours before I gave up .... succombed, and resumed smokintg. This time was different for some reason[s]. Perhaps these two helped:
1) some advice from a poster named MOG. I cannot find the exact post they made to me but it is very similar to what they posted here.

I followed this advice in as much that I switched from commercial name brand cigs to American Spirit roll-youro-own. Mogs advice was to smoke roll-your-own a full year before trying to quit...but I ended up liking this tobacco so much that I smoked it nearly 4 years before giving it a go at quitting. That I've had as much success that I have leads me to believe that it is very helpful to first get off addiction to alla the chemicals put into the big brand cigs.
2).... some of you might be offended to read this but since it has appeared to be a beneficial variable i'm going to mention it nonetheless. About 1 week before my recent quit date (March 19), I bowed down at bed one night before sleep and prayed to God to give me some help and support in kicking this nasty filthy habit that had enslaved me and my life for nearly 35 years.
More to follow but for now wanted to get the basic info on record here.
