I posted a few weeks ago that I was doing well on Inulin. I seemed to be the only one or at least one of very few. who had something good to say about inulin and its effects. Within the last week, tho, I realized it was beginning to cause me problems. For one thing, I became ridiculously constipated, no matter how much veggies, etc., I ate. I looked this up, and it can happen with some people. I also believe that it did, unfortunately, create a bit of a candida flare in me. My sinuses started to bug me, and when that happens, it usually means the beginnings of a flare. I think the reason I thought it was helpful, or at least not problematic, was because I had been doing quite well lately, but then at the time I started inulin, I noticed I started feeling even better. I was, all of a sudden, feeling normal. So I assumed cause and effect. I did mention that at the same time as starting the inulin, I also stopped eating cashews (nut allergy discovered, or, rather, re-discovered) and switched from Mag citrate to Mag malate. But, I still assumed the most benefit was coming from the inulin. I think, though, that the good effects came from dropping the nuts from my diet, and the reason I did not notice the inulin beig a problem was because I had so little candida in me when I began it, that it took a while for the inulin to feed and grow the candida (for those who haven't heard, apparently inulin and FOS are controversial because they can feed bad bacteria/fungi as well as the good, so while they may be beneficial for those who do not harbor any bad bac (is there such a person??), candida sufferers can feed the candida and get worse). Once it grew to a noticeable level, I recognized the dastardly symptoms. The good news is I have been off the inulin a week now and candida symptoms are pretty much gone again. Energy back, sinuses cleared.
Adieu (and others), you were right, at least as it pertains to me, and I can no longer advocate inulin for candida folks.
