I took my english bulldog to the vet, and he has yeast in his ears and in his skin folds on his face (not bad, but a lot of dogs get it) and got anti yeast drops for his ears and asked what to do for his face, this is what she said "Put vinegar in his skin folds, yeast can NOT live in a acidic environment". I feel better about taking the ACV even more so now... I do want to do some little tests of my own, since I never see any yeast on me or coming out of me I can't use my own so I will use his yeast (don't know what kind of yeast he has..) I need to get some containers of some sort and put some of it with differnt antifungals and sugar and a control. I will also start treating his face with the vinegar and see what the results are. any tips?
he had some skin allergys till we put him on lotus holistic human grade expensive as hell dog food! and his skin is good now, if no changes with the yeast after using the drops I will. Hum ....I wonder why he has yeast (sarcasm)he was only on antibiotics as a puppy for mange! it was only one round but it was enough to do that to him! I also give him threelac
While GUT yeast isn't all that infectious, skin yeast, dandruff, etc. IS. And, most of the time, it couldn't care less what mammal to live on.
Interresting, and what scientific research/personal experiences are you refering to? Dandruff, which is caused by the skin yeast from the malassezia "family" lives on all people and is a part of the normal flora, so how can it be infectious. In my oponion, it's the immunesystem that control this, and it has not to about external skin yeasts. Though clorinated water, may lower skin defensives, and perhaps dry out the skin and cause some dandruff.
Have a great day
PS it's an eyesore enough that the HVwhatever person keeps spreading bold words of wisdom, questioning everyone and preaching fantasy on any topic whatsoever... much too late to retrain him (her?), I figure, but could you at least not? it really does feel like you're yelling at me! :(
You are absolutly right, this is a suport forum and we're here to help eachother. Just thought your post was interrresting and wondered where you had gotten your information from. I'm not a doctor, just a person who is in here to find out a cure to my problem. And I'm sorry but you must understand that I can't just "swollow" your posts with out knowing where you got your info from.

I would not use vinegar though due the strong smell and the sensitive noses of dogs. I recommend either making a weak citric acid solution or use water kefir, which will also help to restore the skin flora.
