I use (Bronner's) castile soap to wash my hair, but haven't been too sure about it's disinfecting properties. Some sites say it can disinfect, some say otherwise.
Iodine is a great disinfectant so I thought, what the hey! I squeezed five drops of
Iodine into the 8oz castile container. There was no visible brown color after shaking it a bit, so I didn't feel afraid that it would stain my hair.
Lathered it on during my shower tonight, and noticed my hair was MUCH softer during & after rinsing. Castile soap tends to leave my hair greasy and somewhat tangly so I always follow up with a diluted
citric acid rinse. That was completely unnecessary this time.
Another funny thing I noticed... I also started sneezing during my shower.
The dose of
Iodine from washing my hair had to have been in the trace amounts since it was so diluted. It's hard to say whether this could have really had such an effect. Maybe I'm imagining things.
Has anyone else experimented with
Iodine in their beauty products?
