Wow, what a revelation, finding this site. I'm a first time forum writer so I apologise if this is too long. I have had a Mirena for three years now, put in to lighten very heavy periods. From the very beginning I blamed the Mirena for sudden hair loss, slight Depression and weight gain. I returned to my Dr 6 months later asking her to remove it, she said my symptoms were unrelated to the Mirena and to give it longer. As the symptoms got steadily worse I went back a further two times to ask for it to be removed, each time she convinced me not to. Sadly this last year has seen a definate deterioration in my moods. For two weeks before my period I'm the rudest, most violent, aggressive and irrational person imaginable (It's usually commented on how cheerful, fun, polite and nice I am!!) I've lost a very good job (at a Drs surgery) and all my friends there, I can no longer bear to socialise, everyone annoys me! My husband has been incredibly supportive, but my children do tend to tiptoe around me. I only started looking at these sites to arm myself with courage, As today I go for the fourth time to the Dr to beg for this thing to be removed. I am truly amazed at the similarity between our symptoms, I though I was alone, or mad. There is no way I'm coming away today with this thing in place! Thank you everyone.
