Warts are a viral condition. So antivirals would be a good start to keep the condition from recurring. The herb andrographis is the best antiviral for this type of virus. It is not easy to find, but some health food stores have andrographis extract in capsules. I have seen the tincture as well, but it is extremely bitter, so the capsules are easier to get down. Recommended dose is 1,000mg three times daily at least 20 minutes before meals.

The latex from various plants will also remove warts by eating them away. Latex is the white, milky substance found in plants like dandelion, milkweed, fig tree, prickly poppy, wild lettuce, and euphorbias. Various euphorbias can be obtained from plant nurseries, or in some yards as the weed known as spurge. Breaking the plants open or pricking them with a pin will cause the latex to exude. This can be applied to the wart topically. In about 3 days any scab that may be present is removed and the latex applied again. This is repeated until the wart is completely gone. The plants vary in strength, so the time required will also vary. I have used this principle to remove moles as well, and euphorbias have been used to remove skin cancers.

Another option is thuja essential oil, also known as cedar leaf. The oil can be applied several times daily to the wart to kill it.

Most of the commercial wart removers contain either an aspirin compound or podophyllumtoxin. An old remedy is to moisten the wart then tape an aspirin over it. The acid eats away the wart. Podophyllumtoxin is derived from mandrake or savin junipers, both very toxic so they should not be injected or applied to bleeding warts.
