I banged my front tooth and it hurts. Will white willow bark extract help? Or what would you recommend?
Thank You.
Alright! I just put a little olive oil in ground organic cloves and put it on the tooth and got relief! I like quick results like that. THANKS SO MUCH.
Speaking of white willow ... it's hard to know how much to take. I bought some to try instead of taking aspirin, but the amount I took didn't do anything. What amount would be the same as say, two aspirin?
It is hard to say since levels of active constituents can vary a lot from plant to plant. Some of the factors that affect levels of actve compounds in plants include soil conditions, water availability, stresses such as drought and insect attack, time of day the plant was picked, how it was dried, how fast it was dried, part of the plant used, etc.
By the way wintergreen and cayenne have higher levels of "natural aspirin" than white willow bark.
Any advice as to how much Wintergreen or Cayenne to take for pain?
Wintergreen is used as an oil and is applied topically. And there are stronger choices than these. Licorice root and yucca root for example are much stronger steroidal anti-inflammatories. Although for the chronic pain you are referring to I recommend going with DL-phenylalanine (DLPA) instead. It takes about two weeks to kick in, but the pain relieving effects are long term once it kicks in. Recommended dose is 1000mg 3 times daily at least 30 minutes before meals, then cut back to 500mg 3 times daily after 2 weeks.
My mom is suffering from a lot of pain due to sciatica and significant bone degeneration (both caused by about 20 years of taking Prozac we belive). She sometimes breaks down and takes ibuprofen, but this is only a temporary fix (and probably terrible for her already drug-overloaded liver!). She's basically living with chronic pain all the time right now. Any advice?
I have some additional information for you on how to deal with the bone degeneration I will have to send to you later. Heading out the door right now.
