Nearly all contaminants are removed at levels above 90% - most of them around 99%. Chlorination byproducts (the risk with chlorine) were removed at 99.6% or better in independent tests. Even chloramines are removed up to a 95% rate. Fluoride is reduced by about 75% to 80%.
Might be good for those who don't want to get a distiller and don't have a reverse osmosis system.

This is a reply to # 1,537,096Zero Water is good also.
It filters the water to have 0 ppm of dissolved solids, it removes everything but the water!
The tapwater where I live starts out with readings of ppm's the 400's and the Zero Water cleans it up to 0.
They claim that it is comparable to distilled water. The filters ain't cheap tho, the water here is so dirty the filter needs to be changed every few weeks.

MoreThis is a reply to # 1,537,107Interesting about the Zero water. I didn't know about this. It's pretty expensive though, I read if your water is very dirty you get about 11 gallons out of one cartridge (not 20 as advertised), and it's $60 for a 4-pack.
The other one I posted about says you get 150 gallons per cartridge, which costs $40, even if you only get half that if the water is very dirty it's much cheaper at about 50cents/gallon. - Berkey? uchihaMadara

I'm not 100% sold because of some test water statements regarding fluoride eluding to < 1 ppm of fluoride. On the site, it says: "Under optimum conditions, effluent concentrations of less than 50 ppb were readily achieved."
0.05 ppm is 50 ppb right.

This is a reply to # 1,537,096I might look into the friends of water shower filter the next time my filter cartridge needs replaced. I use one mainly for the chlorine, but the friends of water one also takes care of a high percentage of chlorine.
Too bad they didn't have the larger size than the pitcher, like the type with a spout that are a couple gallons. If I tried to use the pitcher style, I would be filling it up every day. Right now I buy my dog distilled water, but if I used their pitcher filter I could stop buying hers, but we would go through a lot in day.
