My mother-in-law, 76 years old, has been acting kind of odd lately. She is
normally very active. Drives where ever she wants to go, exercises for 20
minutes every day, is extremely sociable and loves to talk to ANYONE who will listen.
Lately, she's been very nervous, quiet, even has nervous shakes. She doesn't
want to go anywhere, or drive her car. If she comes to our home, 10 minutes
away, we usually have to go get her now. She has extreme bloating when nervous,
burping just every minute or so and passing gas. And doesn't even try to "hide"
the fact that she's passing gas. And she is normally very 'proper'. She says off the wall things, like, "I just can't SNEEZE today", "I just HAVE to sneeze". No matter what you ask her to do, or where you ask her to go, she says, "No, I don't
think I'd better do that."
We can't really put our finger on anything, and know nothing about Alzheimers.
But she is just not acting herself. I took her for a physical and the blood
work just couldn't have been closer to perfect. She IS taking Lipitor for
cholesterol and she says she thinks the Lipitor is making her nervous. She is
not sleeping, wakes up 2 or 3 times at night. Has had 2 shaking spells the doctor
called panic attacks. Any suggestions or theories? Thanks, Lee
