Hello,
Just thought I'd fill you in on my findings using the soap method.
Basicaly I'm not cured BUT my lips are in the best shape they have ever been. I'm on a 3 day peeling cycle and all of those 3 days my lips look great. Also no little white line appears. I apply the soap 2 times a day (when I wake up and when I go to sleep). Also when I do exfoliate it is much easier to do so.

This is a reply to # 1,523,554Only if you use Triclosan 0.08%, I tried the 0.12% and my lips felt very tight all the time.

MoreThis is a reply to # 1,523,684I also used Palmolive (orange one). I did not realize the same brand comes in different strengths. Mine has 0.12% instead of 0.8%.

I know it's really annoying for a new user to just jut in and ask some simple questions, but I've skimmed some of the dishsoap threads (only skimming - there's a lot of material for the new user on this site to get her head around!) and I didn't see this addressed - I'm sure it is addressed though, somewhere - but I didn't see it...
But my question is, have you tried to apply triclosan on its own?
Other questions:
Do you think the triclosan is the main factor in the dishsoap method?
If not, what do you think the dishsoap method is providing/doing to your lips?
Has anyone been totally cured with this (besides the Ehow woman)?

This is a reply to # 1,523,848Yeah, I wasn't aware that it came in differnet strengths as well but I started checking the back labels and thats when I found out. I thought that the .12% would be better since its stronger but it makes your lips feel hard!

No, I have not but I would say it's worth a try.

I think its a major factor but I wouldn't know that 100%.

Hmm well before this I would NEVER let my lips get wet. Maybe the water is helping them out or something. Basically my EC isn't as bad as when it started. When I started as soon as water touched my lips they went white. Now I can get them wet and nothing happens. But I still have to peell them though.

I dont think she had EC but yeah, she claims she was cured from EC using this method.

This is a reply to # 1,523,917This is just a guess, but the dish soap might work better than the triclosan alone because it is sticky like glue or holds the lip skin down.

I am really glad that you have found something that seems to be helping your lips, but I have two concerns about it --
one, that the other ingredients in dishwashing soap (the detergents and such) might be harmful to your lips (those ingredients are definitely harmful to the skin on my hands, in my own experience),
and two, that triclosan is a VERY potent chemical that has been proven to cause harm, and isn't regulated properly in the US, so even though it's available in many products in the US, it may be destructive both to the environment as a whole and to individuals who use it.
I had at first composed a longer message here, but then I decided to make my message a new topic instead of leaving it as a reply at the bottom of this thread, in case not many forum readers would still be reading this topic, as it's a few days old.
I'm not attempting to preach at anyone, but please see my main topic comment on triclosan, if you are interested.
