One of the new age movements "gurus," James Arthur Ray, is in deep trouble having been involved with the death of 3 people at one of his retreats. Many in the new age movement are categorically distiancing themselves from him. He was often a guest on Oprah and is one of the monds behind the phenomenon "The Secret." *Note* Manifesting skills don't always equate with integrity. It has been my observation that the way this was all presented in the movie "The Secret" was to appeal to people's greed. "attract that new shiny sports car" etc. Law of attraction has been bastardized by greedy some new agers that believe they create their reality in a vacuum and that their creating doesn't effect anyone else. Wrong. It's a game of co-creation no matter how much they want to believe otherwise. Anyway, 3 people are dead due to arrogance and megalomania.

This is a reply to # 1,516,568sweat lodge - Native American - sacred spiritual practice - was being used by what they call a "plastic shawman" I hear he was charging $9,500 each or so for his spiritual warrior program which combines many traditional tribes practices - as what I read from promo info.
No one has ever died in a sweat lodge - practiced by the traditional Native Americans. By the way they never pay for spirituality - sorta like "how can one sell the land".
The Native Americans are greatly hurt by these "plastic shawman" many feel their last prescious thing in this world is being exploited and watered down. I believe this example illustrated the truth of their feelings.
Nov 5, 2009 - 500 or so Tribal leaders are meeting with Obama. I hope the American people will support this abused peoples.
I have been chatting with a few from the Pine Ridge REZ - my feeling is they are hollow shells of a people - put down and kept down - everytime they try to better themselves - it is putdown -year in year out - so that hopelessness is the norm. I do read grounded words from spiritual leaders which shows that the "living spiritually grounded unon the earth" is still known by a few.
I hope the folks who read this to read up on the real history - thus be moved to help to restore hope to a broken people.

I agree. I should admit though, I couldn't make it through even the opening of the movie, for all its shlock quasi 'occult' effects. Very mainstream feel to it all, and perfectly aimed at provoking large-scale discounting of anything deemed "new-age". So, business as usual. For me that makes it a divisive tool for the religious fundamentalists and the larger machine (Pharma, etc. etc.)rather than inherently whole-some. Abraham-Hicks must be feeling gratitude they ended up disinvolved in "the secret". I think their messages are largely helpful in intent, but still, "you can have it, if you want it, when you get out of the way" begins to grate, for sounding simplistic, pseudo-lullabye and "self" serving, small s. :-)

This is a reply to # 1,516,891Add to this the Oprah factor. Nothing worthwhile would ever be amplified to the masses through mainstream television "programming' that wasn't part of social engineering.
I remember people saying "oh isn't it so wonderful that Oprah is bringing this to mass consciousness. Maybe there is hope."
Red alert. Red alert.
Don't even get me started on the Eckhart Tolle parade being amplified by the same source. I am not saying Eckhart doesn't have value. But if you listen to how it is spun, it is another little social engineering device that leaves people powerless. Being in the moment is essential for living free. The problem is when they say don't concern yourself with what is. That some how a bigger power is living you and just accept what is like big pharma, big war, big (fill in the blank) Ya guess who that "bigger power" is?
If people knew how much stuff that is being hoisted up as spiritual paths is actually been carefully devised behind closed doors and then released on the public to lead them into certain mind sets, they would be amazed. Course in Miracles is one such trap. (don't take my word for it...research who the players are) Much of the so called channeling work is also part of the intelligence game to lead people into the trap of giving your power away.
Most people would do good to just disconnect from the outer environment for a while. In other words remove outer influences and just notice your own awareness. Then jump in the stream from there. In our need for relief we grab on to anything to relieve our suffering. Controlling the herd has become very sophisticated.
Freeing the mind is essential for true spiritual freedom.
