Fiber alone generally won't get the old stuff out...the
Bentonite helps to absorb toxins and pull the gunk from the walls fo the intestines...and the psyllium sweeps it out. (Herbs in the Holistic Horizons program serve a similar function...they soften and loosen mucoid plaque.) You may want to increase the number of shakes you are taking per day...as long as things are moving there should be no problem and you will probably begin to see larger quantities of 'stuff'.
Colonics by themselves are not sufficient to remove significant quantities of mucoid plaque...I see peices of it occassionally when people have regular colonics, but not in the quantity you get when doing the colon cleanse. What
colonics CAN do when you're on the
Colon Cleanse is accelerate the cleanse process and carry the loosened material out faster...which reduces or prevents cleansing reactions and prevents any tendency towards getting backed up when doing the cleanse.
colonics also have the added benefit of helping to hydrate the body and improving peristalsis by exercising the bowel muscle...like internal resistance training.
It takes time to remove the mucoid plaque because it builds up in layers over years...and the older layers can be quite hard. How long it takes varies depending on many factors...diet, digestive functioning, toxic exposures, stress, etc. Some people may be satisfied with their results after several weeks...others may want to continue for several months. I think it is important to think of cleansing as a process of getting 'cleaner' that is ongoing...requiring regular maintenance and alternating cleansing with replenishing. If you think of it as reaching a point where you are perfectly clean and finished with cleansing...you're more likely to become frustrated with the process.
