On the above UK link, it says it also makes nut milk. How so? Is there a place to add water to the soaked nuts as well?
Can you tell me how good it is for greens - kale, nettles, sprouts etc. (I'm not too interested in fruit)
My desire is right up ... have been looking around and it looks really REALLY great! Am thinking about buying it today but will wait for your response first.
Thanks
Maya
Thank you, yes, that helps! I also saw a video on doing the nut milk with the juicer ... which is fab because I had been thinking about getting a nut milk maker as well (but the one I wanted had sold out) ... so this will be all I need, plus it's nice and compact (back on the Wu Wei). Will try and get a delivery for tomorrow and I'll let you know how I get on.
Thanks again!!
Maya
I got the juicer yesterday morning and used it 4 times:
1. Sprouts - sunlowers, alfalfa, broccoli + cucumber and celery
2. Kale, carrots, cucmber, celery, pear
3. Nettles, dandelion and apple
Above three were amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I got a lot more juice by putting the pulp through again twice.
4. Hazelnut nut milk ... this is going to take a little more perfecting. It was a tiny bit too pulpy, so I ended up straining again through a nut milk bag. I think what I will do next time is do the nut milk in the blendtec and then put it through the juicer.
I love how quiet it is ... so easy to put together (intuitive) - the compactness of this model is wonderful. The juice tastes fantastic and very easy to clean. And the self feeding, gravity chute ... the ability to rinse it through ..... the cute collection containers ... wow :-)
Overall verdict - AMAZING!! Great investment.
Yes, fresh nettles :-)
I walk my dogs (like the ones in my avatar) for 1.5 - 2 hours each morning. Within 15 minutes drive, I have access to some amazing wildlife parks ... fresh water streams .. I even find a wild watercress if I'm lucky ....
In the UK, we have nettles growing everywhere from early Spring till the beginning of Winter. I pick a whole bag of nettles most mornings to make juice or add to green smoothies.
In my opinion, wildcrafted fresh nettles outbeat anything shop bought, even organic stuff because they are high in Ormus content. I pick them all by hand and never get stung anymore. The best ones are generally still covered in morning dew and have had no morning sunlight shone on them yet ... so I like to be out nice and early. Barefoot .. like the wild creature I am :-)
Recently, I also picked a lot of red clover, cleavers, dandelions etc. I am also starting to get a lot of access to wild medicinal mushrooms - maiitake, chaga etc.
Nature is a source of continued abundance in good stuff :-)
Did you really get 'alot' more juice when you passed the pulp through a second time?
Hi stiggs
I am still experimenting with the juicer ... I'm very happy so far. I'm finding that it is better not to juice the pulp from greens a second time ... because the pulp is already pretty dry.
However, the pulp from stuff like pineapple, pears, apples, beets ... are good to run through again, as that's still moist, and I don't mind if the juice isn't completely fine.
I used to own a Greenstar so I can confirm there IS more foam from the VRT330 .... But the juice does taste equally great! The quality is still there eventhough it's quite speedy. I do discard the foam out before drinking. Fortunately for me, I do wildcraft or grow most of my own biodynamic greens and sprouts, so I can afford a little waste.
I found the most amazing stream yesterday covered in wild watercress .... and surrounding it the most juicy nettles I've ever seen. Some dandelions, red clover and cleavers too. So I'll be juicing them for a while.
My review now is - if you have more space, patience and don't mind the clean up time ... go with the Greenstar .. but if you're like me, someone who wouldn't bother to juice daily unless it was easy, then go with the new Omega. I'm very impressed with how space saving it is .... and the gravity based, self feeding shoot is a wonderful addition.
Oh, another thing, it's really quiet!
When I had the Greenstar, I had to pack it away because of it's size ... so it didn't come out very often. It eventually stayed unused for 6 + months ... and I was using my Blendtec blender to make juice and then squeeze through a nut bag ... but with this new juicer, it sits perfectly on the counter top .. a big bonus! It's about the same size as the Blendtec and easy to sqeeze in.
Happy Juicing!
