Believe it or not - when I personally go out to eat - I order anything that has been fried. The more deep fried it is - the better.
This is because freezing will kill nasties and so will cooking in hot grease. Food handlers with possible infections are much less likely to infect searing hot fried foods!
The salad bar and salads in general - eaten away from home - are an infection waiting to happen. If the produce has not been washed properly and handled properly - you can easily get infected because there is no feezing or cooking involed in salads.
Deep fried chicken, chicken strips, french fries, tater tots, deep fried pies, egg rolls and fried shrimp are good fried examples.
Whole fruits that you can peel yourself - oranges, apples, bananas and pears - are good choices too.
My grandfather never ate out much - I remember when I was a child he and my grandmother took us grandkids out West for a vacation. When we ate out - before we ordered anything - he would ask to see the kitchen. There were several occasions in which we walked out to find another place to eat.
You can do this too - ask to see the kitchen. If what you see is to your liking - then the food is probably safe - if it is unfit - then do not eat there.
