Re: Maca. Stimulatory or calming?
I would say neutral. It is not a CNS stimulant, and it is not a sedative in any manner I have heard of.
I think it depends how much you use. I will use almost a whole tablespoon in a pint of smoothie and that just sits perfectly for me .. there IS a slight yippee effect :-)
I took 3 tablespoons once in a smoothie ... I was speeding. It was a HIGH - not complaining ... it was fun :-)
There have been some YouTube experiments ... people took 8 + tbs of Maca and some passed out, after becoming too stimulated.
Everyone will react differently, direct experience is the best teacher.

These people are eating way more than 8 tablespoons worth of maca with their meals, but I have never heard any of them reporting a stimulatory effect. It could be something else such as an epinephrine release from an allergy or just an overreaction of the adrenals as they respond to being built back up.
"A slight yippee effect"????
Oh man, that is such a funny comment!!! I'm writing that one down to keep. Thanks for the morning chuckle!!!
(I use maca too at about a teaspoon in my smoothie ... still waiting for the yippee!)
If you ever build up to 3 tbs in one sitting, you'll get more than a slight Yippee effect!! ...
You'll get the 'hoochi coochi - insi weeni - hockey pokey - oh yeah baby - let's do the Lambada! - oooh la la' effect!!
..... Not that I would know of course ..... this is just theoretical and for experimentation purposes only. (That's my disclaimer Mama!! haha!)
Hmmmm ... Who turned the heating up? :-)
Oh YEAH, I have gotten THAT effect which wasn't the one I wanted!!! OY!!!
Will the herbs still help repair the adrenals even if they are stimulating or somewhat stimulating?
Yes, but the concern is that if the adrenals are extremely weak that the stimulating herbs may over work the adrenals.
