Back to July 2008 my young niece went to several doctors complaining from a pain in her leg. She could barely walk. Beside the pain, this was a major setback in her career, as a professional gymnastic coach. She went to hospitals and specialists in different cities, they saw X-rays etc… each one arriving to different conclusions… but none could detect her real problem. In despair, she even tried acupuncture, but nothing could stop her complains.
More recently, thanks to some friends at her work, she met some sport doctors that moved influences in order for her to get a leg Scan (otherwise a very expensive medical test).
The conclusion was that she has a “tibia” shinbone fracture! The bad news is that in consequence of this diagnostic delay (more than a year) there’s also a mass/tumor next to the fracture. They’re going to make tests to evaluate if the tumor is malign or benign.
From soccer (started with the boys) to martial arts, my niece practices several sports since a very young age. Is not just sad to know she’s suffering… is also very sad that she may never be able to practice sports again. She’s a fine athlete with great expectations… She may have to go for radiotherapy… Don’t know yet…
Even before I know the results what can she so – at a basic level – that may help shrink her tumor and regain her stamina?
* Basic level in the sense of some kind of short protocol
that she may start right now. We leave in different cities
and I can't help her more directly. I'm from Europe and some items are not readly available.
Thank you in advance…
