Hello Ladies,
I have been reading this forum for quite some time and am very glad to be rid of the tiny devil inside of me. I had Mirena for 1.5 years, and the symptoms became terrible after 8 months, but I didn't connect the two for months and months. The side effects were just awful, and I am HAPPY to report that 2 and 1/2 months post removal, many of them have disappeared completely (dry eye, tingling numbness in hands, joint pain, night sweats, UTIs, BV, Yeast Infections).
However, I am terrified because now I am having severe heartburn! This started about two weeks ago, and seems to have exacerbated the IBS that Mirena also caused. So while I was feeling awful on Mirena, I'm feeling much worse now. I also have nausea, cramping, and NO APPETITE WHATSOEVER. The IBS has made me lose an uncomfortable amount of weight this year, and I am trying to gain. This is really scary.
I have never been pregnant and am not now, but the only solace I take is from a few reports that post mirena women felt "pregnant" with heartburn, nausea, etc. without having actually concieved.
Antacids make my IBS worse so I am not using them. I am a singer and my voice is getting hoarse, and it's hard to swallow. I drink "Throat Coat" licorice tea, and I don't know what else to do. Am going in for an Endoscopy and Colonoscopy in the next few months
PLEASE let me know -- If you have experienced heartburn AFTER removing Mirena, has it gone away? How long did it take to go away?
Thanks Ladies -- I really appreciate your experience and input in this forum!
