Hi there, I have finally decided to take the plunge and have electrolysis to remove my manly facial hair. Can anyone recommend an electrologist in Southampton (UK)? It's an absolute nightmare, Im 30 and have had it since I was 15 and its gradually got worse. I have recently been diagnosed with PCOS. I can truly understand how everyone here feels. I made the mistake of trying an epilator on my face, this week, and its done a lot of damage to my skin, plus its given me spots, my skin is very red and sore and even more hairs seem to be growing back every day!

MoreThis is a reply to # 1,478,121Sorry, can't help with a recommendation, but would suggest that you get your hormones stable in the normal female range before going for electrolysis, otherwise it's not going to be permanent in the way it would otherwise be. This business of keeping your hormones in the normal female range is essential if you're to avoid developing moustache and beard growth.

This is a reply to # 1,484,204With all due respect, I'm not so sure that monkeying with the hormones in our bodies is such a good idea. Who knows what health problems engineering our hormones does long term. I found electrolysis to be very effective long term without any hormone changing pharmaceuticals.

This is a reply to # 1,484,470I actually agree that monkeying around with hormones isn't a good idea if it's only to address "excess" hair growth. However even electrolysis doesn't guarantee permanent hair removal where the hormone balance is strongly testosterone dominated, so it's a question of how desperately one wants permanent hair removal.
For myself, shaving's the answer of choice.
