Whether it's true or not I don't know. My mother-in-law used it a lot and she insisted it gave her facial hair. On the other hand, what she had on her face was just a covering of very short, fuzzy, colorless hair. It certainly didn't remotely resemble the sort of facial hair I have which is coarse, black and bristly -- the same sort my husband has, except mine is restricted to my moustache and my chin.

As far as I know, my mother-in-law never actually removed any of that growth. She wasn't a hairy person in the normal sense of the term.

A sample of one isn't much to go on, though :-)
