I have heard that lavender oil repells fleas. I have also heard that Avon's Hair so New, (a conditioner) is good for repelling fleas. I can't back these up with personal experience...

You might want to google "natural flea remedies" and see what you come up with.

This is a small dog, so a flea comb after every walk would be easy to do, and the least toxic of all.

If you give your pup a little bit of ACV in with his kibble...like around 1/8 tsp once a day, then this will keep fleas as well as ticks away too. Also, I give my dogs 1 tblsn of coconut oil everyday. Coconut oil is a natural dewormer because it has antiviral, antibacterial and antiparasitic properties. My dogs are 4 yo and 5 yo and they go to the dog park and socialize a lot with other dogs and never had had a problem with fleas, worms etc. I don't deworm them or use the flea protection and have never had a problem with fleas or anything else since I've started this protocol with them about 2 years ago.

Also, if you know you're going into a flea/tick infested area then mix a spray bottle equal parts of ACV and water and spray you pup down. It stinks a little at first, but the odor disappears fast and you have instant healthy proctection...plus it conditions the coat!

Food grade diatomecous earth can be applied topically like a flea powder. It will desiccate any fleas on him. Be careful though, you don't want to breath it or let him breath it.

Sweet orange oil, a drop or two in his shampoo (pour out a dollop of shampoo in your hand and then put a drop of orange oil in the shampoo and then suds your pup) will kill any fleas on him. Try to leave the shampoo on for a few minutes to kill the fleas.

Also, a bowl of water with a drop of soap and a flea comb. Use the flea comb and dip in the water to dispose of the fleas. The soap keeps the buggers from jumping out. Flush the water when finished.

Harmonic, your poor baby. Flea products are very very toxic and I am not surprised your dog has seizures from them.

Sprinkle your carpets with Borax (20 Mule Team). Let sit for at least 30 minutes (longer, even a few days is better). Then vacuum up. Repeat weekly until you are pretty sure you don't have fleas in the carpet or furniture any more. This should also kill other critters like dust mites.

Use a flea comb on the dog. You can also bathe the dog in Borax, but you'll want to rinse well afterward.

If you can, twice a year (spring and fall), sprinkle your yard with the Borax. Do it when you know you're not going to have any rain for a while.

My indoor cats don't tolerate the commercial flea meds either. One cat was bothered by the fleas so much she was ripping her fur out until she was bald. We've started doing these things and haven't had a flea hop on us at all, and the fleas on the cats are definitely reduced. I'm bad and haven't flea combed enough, though, to totally get rid of the fleas. I feel the kids should be taking care of their cats more, so should be doing some of the flea combing themselves, especially since their cats are the difficult ones about being held still for the combing. My own cat (the one who was ripping out her fur) is doing so much better, and I do comb her well. She also "helps" to rid herself of fleas by eating the ones she can dig out of her fur. I do have her on Colloidal Silver also.
