Could this be allergies?

I am 62. Last August I moved from southern CA to Maryland.
About two months ago I developed a nagging cough...mostly it is a dry tickle in the center of my chest. My nose and lungs are clear. There are times when I feel a discomfort in my chest as well, although it is slight and I haven't felt it for several weeks. It was very annoying. I couldn't talk, especially on the phone, without coughing... and I would cough every time I touched my chest or throat.
I did a master cleans fast for ten days. It didn't help.
I did 7 days on antibiotics...and got very little relief.
I have been taking vinigar, honey and garlic for 3-4 weeks, and it really hasn't helped much either.
I have now been taking Aruvedic herbs for several weeks, and that has helped, but I still have the cough..some days it is almost gone and some days it starts to come back...but I am much better. I can talk without coughing most of the time....
Still, it won't go away and today I coughed more than yesterday...not a good sign.
I went to a doctor and had blood work and a chest x-ray. He says I have a very small spot on one lung...but he does not feel that is making me cough.
He says its allergies.
I have never had an allergy before..to anything. I have no red, water eyes, and very little sneezing...with no runny nose.
Could this be allergies? If not, what do you think it is?

MoreThis is a reply to # 1,443,031Allergies are a possibility - although I would expect to see some type of runny nose or eyes. Another possibility is acid reflux - it quite often shows up as a cough or hiccups. Using aloe juice with some blue/green algae clears it up pretty fast - also adding more live foods to your diet will provide additional live enzymes to help control the acid.

That is just what I was thinking...becuase when my chest gets uncomfortable...I burp a lot...and then it feels a little better....and my stomach has always been my achillies heel...and I,....oops....have been drinking coffee at work in the morning...which I stopped doing today....
Although wouldn't the vinigar/garlic and raw honey have helped me more?- Re: Could this be allergies? Dr Mom

This is a reply to # 1,443,362Not if you're drinking coffee, soda, eating processed foods, etc. It will help with the sore throat, but it can't replace the enzymes you're missing or heal the damage from the acid coming up into the esophagus.

MoreThis is a reply to # 1,443,505Yipes. No. I just started drinking coffee again about 4-5 months ago... but its back to green tea for me! No soda, processed foods...except a little chocolate now and then...but many times I eat raw chocolate made with coconut oil....
I was frequently drinking it on an empty stomach too...but I seemed to be tolerating it...none of the usual jitteryness or stomach problems I am famous for...so I though I was getting away with it. I guess not.
If I had only known before this that acid could cause a cough..I would have stopped long ago, but I didn't connect the two.
You would think the MD I went to a month ago might have suggested acid reflux, but he didn't have a clue.
Still, while this diagnosis seems to fit, I didn't drink coffee when I was on the ten day master cleanse...and the cough did not even subside...was that due to the lemons? Lemons have always helped my stomach in the past.

This is a reply to # 1,443,536Lemons are very alkaline when taken into the body and should not have caused a problem - however, you can't undo in 10 days what it has taken a life time to create. The body is very forgiving and will fight to come back into balance as quickly as it possibly can, but you have to help it repair the damage and correct the problem.

This is a reply to # 1,443,727Hmmmm, I can't correct in 10 days what it takes a lifetime to create....but I took one dose of the Aloe/Algae...and feel 90% better! Thank you so much.
But you are assuming that I don't take care of myself, and that is not true. I fast on a regular basis, I do colon cleansing and eat organic. My lifestyle is far from perfect, but I don't sit around eating pop tarts. Yes, I started drinking coffee again a few months ago...just one small cup 5 days a week, but you try being 62, still working full time, and having to keep up with 2 co-workers in their early 20s after a long commute!
Plus, it was really good coffee and I really like the stuff.
I even had the Aloe in my fridge already, I just never made the cough/stomach connection.
I have a ways to go to heal all the damage...but I think I am well on my way. Thank you so much for all your help.- Re: Could this be allergies? Dr Mom

This is a reply to # 1,444,006That is awesome news - how well you're doing with the aloe and with work - thanks for sharing. Barring the chance of a horrible accident, I plan on still going strong at 62 - thanks for setting a great example.

This is a reply to # 1,444,612No doubt about it - but,with the right knowledge, I believe it is possible to make it just about the same. I am still working on exactly how to do that, but I believe it is possible.
