My wife grew up on a small island off Taiwan and she said they used to fertilize their vegetables with urine after it had stood for a few days.

Last week I tried it on some potted herbs (sage and mint) that had been in their pots for a couple of years and were looking tired and shriveled up. The results were surprisingly good. After just a few days the plants were visibly healthier with lots of new leaves.

I dilute the urine quite a lot, at least 1:10 since, even though I eat very little salt, it does come out in the urine and wouldn't be good if it built up in the soil.
