Im 29, never had a child and dont really plan on it.I have been on so many different birth controls and im tired of taking a pill everyday, having a shot every 3 months ( not to mention the mood swings), im tired of having a patch on my back that i cannot even wear tank tops in the summer.Not to mention it falls off near the end of the week. So im heading tommorow to get the Mirena. I have read many of the post here saying " DONT GET IT", "CANNOT WAIT TILL I GET IT OUT", but i have decided that i am to try it since everyone womans body is different and how they react to drugs. I hope it goes well,but if not then im willing to take that chance. I will get it removed and move on to yet another form of birth control. So, i will keep a little blog on how its going.

I have a great friend who after 2 still loves her mirena, and I do believe she IS the majority of users.
I am sorry, but I find what you posted a bit insulting (although-I am totally pmsing right now...). THIS IS A SIDE EFFECT FORUM.
Not all of us are "don't get it". Personally, I think all options of birth control should be available. Mirena is just like all of them-and they all have side effects-except Bayer and our docs dont admit to them. Why????? that is the big question, no????
My beef is that we are CONTINUOUSLY TOLD there are no side effects, and that is a bunch of Bull****!!!!!!!
Many of the women here are trying to figure out how to fix the dammage that mirena caused (to us lowly 10 to 20% of users-and extensive it is...). I think we make great progress here, and I think we really help each other.
You will always be welcome if you have questions. just don't discount what you read. It is real. PLEASE pay attention to your body, and the changes you experience.

MoreThis is a reply to # 1,432,624Look at it this way, you have an 80%-90% success rate. I loved having one with no periods, but had to weigh the risks. I am a minority to the norm. and suffered for 6 years and didn't realize my issues were related until recently. Please keep a list of ANY changes you have after getting it. Good Luck. I really wish I could tolerate it, but for me, it's like an Evil Beast I want gone forever!!! I wish you normalcy... :}
