Hey guys,
So the thing I'm really concerned about right now is the solid cyst on my left ovary. Almost everything I read about Iodine and ovarian cysts seems to be referring to the "functional" or fluid-filled kind (I have one of those too but I'm not worried about that one). I've read just a few things here and there which seem to *imply* (and never in detail) that Iodine can help with solid or semi-solid growths, but I'm having a hard time coming up with anything really specific and concrete in this realm.
I'm on edge because I'm waiting for them to rule out malignancy (which seems unlikely given my age and overall health, and the fact that all my bloodwork for the past year has looked really good with the exception of fluctuating hormones and low T3)... and my doctor said he doesn't think it's cancerous, but given my two week waiting period it's hard not to worry..
So.. I would love to know that what I'm doing with the iodoral could be helping the solid cyst as well as the fluid-filled one.
Waiting for test results is not fun.

MoreThis is a reply to # 1,418,861..that I know it may be of "indirect" help in the sense that it promotes systemic health/balance, but I'm wondering if there are any documented cases (andecdotal or otherwise) of women who have successfully treated solid or complex ovarian cysts with iodine.

This is a reply to # 1,418,946I agree with this. I'm lucky to have a doctor who doesn't think that way. He's an integrative DO, proponent of chelation, intravenous vitamin C, bioidenticals, nutritional therapy, etc.
It's really sad, though... I went to MANY doctors in the years prior to finding my current one (whose services I pay for out of pocket).. and they all told me that nothing was wrong with me, but that I needed to be taking birth control pills and antidepressants... which I refused based on my own intuition and research... and which I now know would have likely made my problems worse.
The six months or so that I DID spend on birth control when I was 18 were a nightmare -- I have never experienced such emotional distress as I did while I was taking synthetic estrogen.- Re: I should add.. High on Water

I do mean LITERALLY yelled at me. He got mad and questioned me about believing "some da_n article in a magazine over [my] own doctor."
Gawd. That was back in the day when I thought doctors knew so much. My own intuition was right...but this man was my husband's AND my mother-in-law's doctor...and, of course, HE knew much more than stupid little ol' me and my intuition.
My first instinct was to cry over that memory - but I feel justified now. It wasn't all my fault: (My husband AND my mother-in-law told me to listen to the doctor, so I did.)

This is a reply to # 1,418,999WOW, it's unbelievable.. not to generalize, but THEY have zero respect for the fact that it is the patient's health, the patient's body, the patient's LIFE, etc.
I've never been yelled at but I've definitely gotten the raised eyebrows, eye-rolls, etc.
OH... and then there was the college psychiatrist, when I was in school, whom I saw ONCE when I was attempting to get a handle on my panic attacks... he was trying to get me to take prozac because, in his OWN WORDS, "People like you never get better."- Re: YES, it made me INSANE! trapper/kcmo

I'd say: "That's nice, but what about me ?"
or better still
"Who do you know that is like me ? My other doctor told me that every patient is different, otherwise we wouldn't "need" doctors...."
The people who like that I never get better must be the white-coated dope pushers who cure nothing, kill 750,000 annually in the US by their errors, and think they're f*cking smart.
Their souls were sold, like the little donkeys in Pinnochio.
Most MD's are dust in the wind, of less value than a greasy mechanic at the corner who at least can do a brake job and offer something valuable to society.
My father once punched an MD in the mouth and broke his jaw, requiring wiring , because of malpractice on the MD's part. He never sued. If he had, there would have been another punch coming.

This is a reply to # 1,419,132I wish I had known then, at 18, what I know now. I knew I didn't want prozac, but I didn't know how to stand up to that man. It's really messed up.. like who says something like that to a distraught 18 year old girl? What PROFESSIONAL, what HEALER? Totally insane.
And good for your dad, for punching the guy. They really are drug pushers in every sense of the word.
And, it's a shame that they've done such a disservice to the few doctors who actually care and know what they're doing. The whole medical profession is completely tarnished and broken in my eyes.

This is a reply to # 1,418,970I took them one month and one month only.. Doctor and husband both argued with me.. but I KNEW it was hurting me big time.. so I stopped and became myself again almost immediately.

That's exactly what I have experienced over the years and I hate it that I did not and still do not have more energy to yell back at some of those utterly ignorant individuals.
I asked one doctor about birth control alternatives. I was in my 20s then and had started to develop FC breasts plus started having sharp pains in my lungs when breathing. His comment was "Well you want to take them or not??"
I decided not to - FCBs and pain went away and never came back.
Over the years no matter what I did, even progesterone supplementation, it all seemed to be straight converted to estrogens and I was already estrogen dominant!! No-one could tell me why. Now, since I found this forum, I am starting to get an inkling as to why....sigh
I sincerely feel for all those people who are treated like children at their doctors.......children should not even be treated like this!!

This is a reply to # 1,419,372Even though my doctor said he doesn't think it's likely, I KNOW the oral micronized progesterone I was taking (which made me feel amazing for a while) had started converting to estrogen after six months or so. I started having mid-cycle bleeding, and my moods were declining again, and some of the anxiety was returning, more breast pain, etc etc.. I'm 99% certain that's what was happening. Plus my bloodwork was showing slightly elevated estrogen in relation to progesterone, which I think speaks for itself.

I also had a negative response to progesterone; I used Wild Yam for a month and a half and my FBD simply exploded. It also made my gums swell up and bleed.
I threw the capsules in the bin; and this period I am back to where I was before the wild yam.

This is a reply to # 1,419,499Yes, and I had those issues even with compounded transdermal progesterone cream.
I had similar reactions too with licorice, flax seed, soy, DHEA, Pregnelone, Ginseng....it all seemed to make my estrogen dominance worse.

I am speaking of hard cysts in the BREAST tissue, yes. But still - CYSTS. There may very well be a study to which you seek the answer to, and I hope someone can come through with that for you - in the meantime - keep researching and going through this website.
I had lumpy tissue so hard you could feel them to the point of "no give"...IOW, those s*ckers were SOLID...no fluid in them.
I'm talking about my own breasts. I even had a VERY hard and solid lump of tissue over my sternum. It's still weird to feel that bone again. There's a real, actual, separation now.
Ya know, now that I think of it, feeling that bone right now, I can say that my breasts were almost joined...like a "uni-breast". lolol
Just being able to sleep (once again) on my stomach with no pain is still very very cool.
I know you are worried, and I can understand you wanting absolute PROOF...but why borrow trouble?
I know you don't know me, but I can't stress enough that I believe from the bottom of my heart that even if they came back and told you that you DID have a malignancy, you are still doing the right thing by taking iodine/iodide...AND you would not need radical treatment like surgery, chemo, or radiation. That's me - I would never ever do those things.

This is a reply to # 1,418,889Thank you for your detailed reply and for sharing your own experience. It is SO GOOD to hear the specifics about what others have been through.
I am totally on the same page as you as far as the dangers and inefficacy of mainstream "treatments" -- I would never do chemo or radiation either. I have read too many amazing stories of people having incredible success with Gerson therapy, Budwig protocol, etc. I do believe in the bottom of my heart that most of what is termed "incurable" is actually VERY curable/reversible, and I believe that most of mainstream medicine amounts to quick-fix bandaid approaches at best, and downright poison at worst.
You're right about "borrowing trouble" -- it's hard to control the worrying thoughts sometimes, but I know worrying is pointless.
I believe in the iodine.. It's a gut feeling, instinctive confidence. Doesn't quell all my fears, but it does help and I'm happy to be moving forward with something so promising.- Instinctive confidence is a beautifu... High on Water

It's hard to control the worrysome thoughts because it's the society that we find ourselves living in...everything is fear-based - DON'T listen to it!!! Just go, "Bah, humbug" to it.
Go with your gut. And, I might add, (with a Groucho Marx impersonation for even more clarity), "A clearer gut will give you even clearer intuition!" (Sorry, am in a very silly mood today! lol)
