Hi, I'm hoping someone here can help me b/c I'm really becoming desperate.
I'm a 41-yr white male, "healthy" by all empirical measures, perfect weight, cholesterol and blood work, except that I always wake up tired no matter how much I slee, and have almost constant brain fog. Sometimes I need a nap in the morning and another in the afternoon. I have been this way my entire life. I've had an overnight sleep test, which was completely normal.
About three years ago, after reading Dr. Henry Emmons Chemistry of Joy, I started supplementing with large doses of vitamins and fish oil and almost immediately experienced a remarkable improvement in my condition. I began waking up spontaneously at 5:30 am and was full of energy all day long. I had no idea what it was like to feel that way since I had lived in a continuous stupor my whole life. But after about six months, the effect wore off, and nothing I've done has succeeded in recapturing it.
Recently I started taking my body temperature, which averages around 97 degrees.
Here are some of the things I've tried in addition to normal vitamins and minerals: exercise, drinking large amounts of water, low
Sugar and carb diet, L-Tyrosine, DL-Phenylalanine, L-Carnitine, CoQ10, CoE1 (NADH), MSM, AlphaD-Ribofuranose, Inositol Ginseng, Maca root, Quercetin, Guarana, Açai, Chlorella, Spirulina, Lecithin, St. John's Wort, Sam-E, Valerian, 5-HTP, Melatonin, Armour Thyroid, T3 (Wilson's protocol), Cortef.
I had an
Iodine load test, which came back at 68% excretion: not ideal but not drastically low either. I started iodoral supplementation @25mg/day, hoping that this would be the magic bullet, along with Vitamin C, magnesium, selenium, Vitamin B2 & B3, and celtic sea. Lo and behold, my symptoms got *worse*: my hands felt like ice, I had low-grade headaches, and extreme fatigue. I stopped after about 10 days because I seemed to be going backwards.
I really feel like I'm at the end of my rope.
