I wasn't going to get involved in regent discussion on this forum until this comment by mouseclick:
"I don't think I have ever told anyone that fasting should be used as a last resort. I have said that I personally intend to use fasting as a last resort for weight loss in my own health journey because of the metabolic slow down issue,.......".
Some time earlier I said those words "water fast should only be used as a last resort!"
It was said having the weight reduction in mind. Most people do have or have had in the past the reason to reduce weight, including myself and as also mouseclick.
I did try
Water Fast long time ago unsuccessfully and later modified my eating.
Based on that experience I hold firm opinion that for weight reduction correct eating is far superior to fasting.
One maintains energy level during the reduction and burns excess fat faster than fasting.
There are hidden dangers associated with fast and for that reason any longer fast should only be done under adequate medical supervision. (As advised by people in authority)
Separate from my own opinion I asked my doctor's opinion on fasting.
His short words were: "Negatives outweighs the positives"!
There are reasons for fast other than weight reduction.
I have no understanding of those and therefore no comment.
